The Campaign to Change Direction
is a coalition of concerned citizens, nonprofit leaders, and leaders from the private sector who have come together to change the culture in America about mental health, mental illness, and wellness. This collective impact effort is led by Give an Hour
and was launched in March 2015.
“We must change our culture if we are to succeed in saving lives and ending suffering. We must come to accept that mental health and mental illness are elements of the human condition – just as physical health and disease are.”
- Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen, Founder and President of Give an Hour

Licensed provider interested in serving other at-risk populations?
We also know many in our society struggle with mental health challenges, and not all have access to care. As part of this effort to change the national culture on mental health, we are in the process of expanding our model to provide free mental health care to other groups in need.
We plan on expanding our efforts to provide services to a number of populations in need including:
- At-risk youth
- At-risk seniors
- Native Americans and other vulnerable communities
- Firefighters and first responders
- Homeless individuals and families
- Those in the criminal justice system with mental health challenges
If you would like to volunteer to help us provider free mental health care to others in need, please submit this form: http://www.changedirection.org/give-an-hour/campaign-provider-form/.
